About Us
CULTURE OF RECOVERY
We are committed to promoting honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness as well as integrity, individual growth, and self-acceptance among our participants. A heavy emphasis is placed on the development of communication skills, individual priorities, and individual responsibility. Our family-like settings provide our participants with a daily reprieve so they can focus on meeting their goals and building recovery capital.
Our recovery program is centered on the 12 steps. This has been a popular set of guidelines for helping addicts in recovery for nearly a century, yet many people do not truly understand what has made it so impactful. Particularly to the modern reader, it may seem like an outdated philosophy given that it is filled with religious references, but the fundamentals at its core are valuable regardless of the addict’s background and belief system. The program is geared toward reshaping the individual into a more positive version of themselves rather than simply targeting the immediate problem of dependence. The focus is on the long-term betterment of a person, and in turn, serves to strengthen their odds against relapse from either their original substance of choice or alternatives. What makes it even more significant is that the 12-step program has an emphasis on community building to aid the addict’s ongoing recovery and allow them to give back to others trapped by addiction. This paves the road for effectively helping many more individuals and guides the world toward a place where the stigma of addiction fades and everyone has the opportunity to receive the help that they need.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
I’ve been to many halfway houses for women all across East Tennessee and Irongate is, by far, the best in my personal opinion. It’s helping me get my life back. Everyone there is great and welcoming. I love it.
Marlana is very loving and really cares deeply about each person in her program I really thrived in her program I am now 2 years sober and still keep contact with her and her program to this day I highly recommend irongate
I am currently a participant in this recovery program. I've been here for 6 months and even though I'm about to graduate, I will continue to stay in the program after I graduate. I have learned more about myself, I have worked more on myself, and I continue to progress each and everyday thanks to Marlana and Wes. I am more than grateful that I was sent to this house. They really care about each one of the participant's and take the time to try and figure out why we do what we do. I love both of yall and I can't wait to see what months ahead have in store.
I provide Irongate with their pest control, I provide other halfway houses as well, Irongate is by far the cleanest and best ran halfway home I go to. All the men and women I talk with are happy to be there. Marlana is a joy to work for, she is very professional and passionate about providing quality services for her people.
I have been at Irongate for 8 months now, and it is incredible, magnificent program. Marlene is a wonderful, impeccable women I have ever met in my life. She cares for everyone in her house, and treats us like her own children. I recommend going to Irongate Recovery.
I spent a total of 7 months at Irongate, I was extremely hesitant at the thought of having to be in a halfway house to begin with! Little did I know just how much that place would have in helping me change my life in more ways than I could possibly have room for on here!! I made friends at the house that at times felt more like sisters, learned how to manage my relationships, how to take care of myself, and at 33 I can finally say ive grown up.. Irongate and Marlana Smartt are to thank for that!! I truly believe that God put them in my life for a reason!! I'll forever be grateful for their guidance, direction, and dedication that I received and continue to receive in my recovery and my life! Irongate wasn't just a halfway house it had become my home!💕
I’m a current participant at this house & I have found more love, recovery, and peace more than I ever have in my life. Thank you Marlana! I never would have thought I needed this kind of unity until I got here.
I came to Irongate in March and I cant tell u how much this program has helped me. Wes and Marlana genuinely care and will help in anyway they can. I've not had so much love and compassion shown to me in the time I've been here in a very long time. Im learning how to grow into the woman I've always wanted to be and most importantly Ive learned to love myself again...If anyone out there is needing or wanting help just reach out to them!! I promise it'll not only save your life but it'll be one of the best decisions you have ever made.
Marlana and Wes are good honest people. They love people while they are broken. They have work hard to make sure the women in there are loved. They meet people where they are at and love them through the good and bad times. This place has the perfect amount of love and tough love as needed. It has the perfect structure for women trying to stay clean. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.
Irongate changed my entire life. The people here truly care. I could not of asked for better. I'm forever grateful for what this place has offered me. It has been an experience I'll never in my life forget.

"When I started the recovery process I was broken and miserable but through a lot of hard work and active participation I have learned a new way to live...clean. I have come to believe that no addict seeking recovery need ever die and that we can only keep what we have by giving it away."
